The company conducting the Cannon Air Force Base joint land use study, and its policy committee tried to clear up concerns Monday at a Portales meeting about restrictions on wind turbines and how much authority Cannon will have about structures that stand over 75 feet high.
Rudy Bauer, who supervises the study, stressed that his study is just recommendations, and right now none of his recommendations have been adopted by any government agency.
“This study is a tool kit, a tool kit that these counties and communities have the option to choose what they want to implement,” Bauer said.
Of specific concern was any structure taller than 75 feet.
Bauer said there are no restrictions in place, and his 75-foot mark is merely a recommended talking point which Cannon should be a part of because of radar concerns.
