Clovis High School Class of ’55

The Clovis High School Class members of 1955, spouses and other family members thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful program, good food and visiting at their 55th class reunion held Sept. 11 at the Clovis Carver Public Library which is located where their high school building was.

Beverley Smith created a wonderful program with pictures, poem, announcements and song. Brooks Jennings did a fantastic job as master of ceremonies with many amusing tales and memories of things that happened at high school, as well as, keeping things rolling.

Others who participated in the program and did an excellent job were Wiley Snyder who gave the beginning prayer and George Milburn who led the Pledge of Allegiance. A moment of silence was observed in memory of deceased classmates and honor was given to those who served in the armed forces. Zada Beth (Gamble) Wood who came all the way from Anderson, South Carolina gave her rendition of Patsy Cline's "She's Got You."

Each of the classmates participated in a fun game regarding history of things that happened in the nation, Clovis, and high school in 1955.

Food was prepared by Smoking Skillet Restaurant. Videos were made by Natalie Taylor and Rosstin Ahamadian. Vicki Windham made a photo of the classmates on the steps of the Courthouse. The reunion committee consisted of Beverley Smith, Floretta Wood, Mary Lyn London, Peggy Morrow, Zada Beth Wood, George Milburn and Bonnie Cook.

There were 65 in attendance who came from Farmington and Mountain Home, Ark.; Bayfield, Colorado; Albuquerque, Clovis, Farmington, Hobbs, and Rociada, N.M.; Anderson, South Carolina; Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Farwell, Germantown, Houston, Irving, and Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Jerry Hutchins won the prize for having coming the farthest from Vancouver, Washington.
