Sept. 5 Police blotter

A sampling of recent calls to Roosevelt County dispatch, according to police records:

• Wednesday at 3:05 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Portales City Park when a girl called 911 and said she was about to get in a fight. When the officer arrived, he spoke with a 12-zyear-old girl who said a 13-year-old girl pushed her and wanted to fight her. The other girl said she was pushed and insulted. The parents of each girl were called to the park, and no charges were filed.

• Thursday at 8:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to Portales Junior High School in reference to a fight. When officers arrived, they were told two girls were fighting in a classroom, and had to be pulled apart by a teacher. The girls, a 12- and 13-year-old, told officers that there were insults about each other’s mothers exchanged, and insults and accusations of being pregnant. Both girls were transported to the Portales police station and later released to their parents. According to police records, both girls are charged with public affray, and are the same girls involved in the incident Wednesday at City Park.

• Thursday at 9:16 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Portales High School in reference to a fight. A student said while he was getting dressed after physical education class, someone walked up to him and kicked him in the face. Records show a suspect in the case for the charge of aggravated battery, but no report of an arrest. An ambulance was called, but the patient refused transport to the hospital.

• Thursday at 10:45 a.m., officers responded to Portales Junior High School in reference to filing a report of battery. The officer met with the assistant principal who said a 14-year-old boy was punched three times, a fight which stemmed from the morning bus ride, when he and another boy were insulting each other. A 14-year-old boy arrested, taken to the police station and released to his parents. The boy is charged with battery, and the case was referred to the juvenile probation officer.
