Field reunion

The 24th Biannual Field Reunion was held at the Field Fire Station at 1 p.m. Aug. 13.

The business meeting began at 5 p.m. with Jacob Moberly acting as master of ceremonies.

Jacob presented Dorothy Woods and Beatrice Hunt with gift cards for their work in getting the reunion together.

Teachers present were Fayrene Powers and Betty Willoughby.

Bus drivers, cooks and janitors were recognized.

Earline Jones, 91, was honored for being the oldest one present.

The oldest graduate was Margaret Witcher, who graduated in 1937. Alford and Anna Gibbs were the couple married longest at 66 years. Robert Laney, of New Hampshire, won the prize for traveling the farthest, and Marvin and Doris Welch, of Pennsylvania won second.

A moment of silence was held in memory of all those who had passed on since the last reunion. Serving the meal was Carol Moore of the Melrose Cafeteria.

The next reunion will be the second Friday of August 2012 at the fire station.
