PORTALES — Guard Reggie Nelson, Eastern New Mexico University’s co-leading scorer during the 2009-10 basketball season, will not be back for the Greyhounds this season.
Hounds coach Andrew Helton said Nelson, who would have been a senior at ENMU, wanted to play closer to his home in Tyler, Texas.
“I wish Reggie the best,” Helton said. “He is a good player, student and persono who has helped our program.”
Nelson averaged 11.7 points in 26 games for the Hounds (10-16, 5-7 Lone Star Conference South). He led the team in 3-point shooting (33-of-92, 36 percent) and free throw shooting (90-of-105, 86 percent).
