New McDonald's opening day set

McDonald’s owner John Snowberger said opening day for his newest location is planned for Sept. 7.

Snowberger said the North Prince Street restaurant is expected to open for business at 10:30 a.m. offering the lunch menu.

Simultaneously, the Mitchell Street McDonald’s will close for construction as soon as breakfast is finished at 10:30 a.m.

Snowberger said the Mitchell Street location will be a complete rebuild.

While construction is taking place, the Prince Street restaurant will be open 24-hours a day, but will change to a 5 a.m. to midnight schedule when the Mitchell Street store reopens in a few months, he said.

The restaurant on Mabry Drive will be open 5 a.m. to midnight throughout.

The Prince Street store will offer a patriotic theme geared toward the armed services, Snowberger said, and will offer state of the art amenities including automatic soda machines that dispense and fill cups, couches in the playground area for parents as well as free Internet and electric outlets for computer users.

When it is completed, he said the Mitchell Street location will have a health and fitness theme with a gymnasium style playland for children.
