DeHoyos among seven entering ENMU Hall of Honors

Former Eastern New Mexico University pitcher Gabe DeHoyos is among seven people scheduled to be inducted into the ENMU Hall of honors during a banquet set for 11 a.m. on Aug. 28 at the campus Union Building.

DeHoyos currently is pitching for the Salt Lake Bees, the Triple-A affiliate for the Los Angeles Angels. At ENMU, he was three-time Lone Star Conference South selection, including a first-team choice in 2000 and 2001.

He ranks third in school history in wins, and holds the ENMU record for complete games, shutouts and strikeouts. He was usually the Greyhounds’ first-game starter in a series but then would be available for bullpen duty later, and he figured in 22 of the team’s 69 wins from 2000-02 with either a win or a save.

Also going into the Hall of honors that day will be Julie Baxer-Poyer (volleyball), Jamaal Hunnicutt (men’s basketball), Rachel Mohler (softball), Treena Royston-Dockery (women’s basketball) and Mike Slinker and the late Jim Harmon (support staff).
