Letters to the editor: Education should be state’s priority

Education should be state’s priority

Hardly a day goes by that we don’t read about another huge sum of money being cut from our New Mexico public schools by Gov. Richardson’s administration.

As I remember, the Richardson administration began with a large surplus of money and now, as it winds down, it has a huge deficit.

Now we hear all this ado about pardoning Billy the Kid. What do you suppose this and all the other frivolous things they do is costing our state?

I would think the governor’s time and the New Mexico taxpayers’ money would be more wisely spent on education.

We need to look to the future, not the past.
