Police processing evidence in homicide

Portales police say they’re still waiting on the state lab for forensic evidence to advance to homicide case of ENMU student Angel Vale.

Portales Deputy Police Chief Lonnie Berry said the state crime lab is analyzing and comparing .22 caliber shell casings and bullets to the rifle a 13-year-old Portales boy is charged with stealing from Vale’s home.

Vale was shot three times July 23 outside her home in the 1200 block of Avenue A, police said.

Berry said he does not know how long the state crime lab will take to process the evidence.
