Police blotter —

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 4 a.m. July 26 officers responded to a business in the 1200 block of Main Street for a burglary.

The caller told dispatchers he noticed the rear door to the business was open.

Officers found evidence the door had been pried open and a safe in the office was also open.

Management arrived on scene and told the officers there was more than $9,000 missing from the safe.

Surveillance footage from security cameras showed the suspect entering and exiting the building.

Detectives were called to the scene.

Around 9 a.m. July 27 an officer took a report of harassment at the police department in the 300 block of Connelly Street.

A woman said her daughter’s former boyfriend had been calling continuously for a month. She said her daughter moved out of state to get away from him but he was continuing to call the mother’s residence and had begun driving by.

The officer called the former boyfriend and left a message for him to call him, then told the mother unless the calls continued, the case would be listed as inactive.

Around 1 p.m. July 28 officers responded to an undisclosed residence for a report of child abuse.

Officers documented spoke to the father of a male juvenile, who admitted he threatened his son with a knife after the boy threatened him with a chain.

The boy told them his father threatened him first. They noted the father told them his son was lazy and rude and disrespectful.

They noted the boy told them he was tired of his dad putting him down and treating him bad and would hit him in the head with a brick if he wanted to.

One of the officers told the boy to respect his father and officers left.

Another officer was called to the house about 30 minutes later for a domestic dispute call and the boy said his father hit him repeatedly with a baseball bat.

The officer noted he had injuries to his hand, knee and back.

The boy’s father told the officer he did hit his son with a bat after the boy kicked his foot. He said he wanted the boy to be taken away.

The officer entered the home, noting there was damage to walls and doorways and the boy’s mattress was soaked with water, which the father said he had done to keep his son out of bed.

A social worker was called to take custody of the boy and the officer noted intent to obtain a warrant for child abuse and battery.

About 8 a.m. an officer responded to La Casita Elementary School in the 400 block of Davis for a report of criminal damage.

A custodian reported finding six broken windows on four portable classroom buildings.

The officer documented a large rock on the ground near the broken windows and noted the damage was estimated around $600.
