ALBUQUERQUE — The Roosevelt County All-Stars got a grand slam from Alex Galvan and stayed alive in the double-elimination state 10-11-year-old Little League baseball tournament Tuesday night with a 7-3 victory over Raton.

Roosevelt County will play again at 8 p.m. today in the double-elimination tournament, facing the winner of Tuesday’s late game between Pecos and Carlsbad.

Roosevelt County broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the fourth before Galvan’s grand slam made it 7-0 in the fifth. Raton did not score until plating three runs in the final inning.

Joseph Ortega, Edgardo Chavez and Junior Ramirez combined to handle the pitching duties for Roosevelt County.

The only other District 3 team remaining in state competition, Clovis American, was eliminated in the 9-10-year-old state meet at Raton on Tuesday, losing to silver City 11-4.

Cole Rohrbach hit a two-run double for American, while Paden McDermid and Nick Luvera each drove in a run with a groundout.
