Outdoors: The gutted one that got away

I’ll bet you’ve heard about the one that got away. Almost every fisherman can tell that story.

But have you heard about the one that was filleted and got away? Norm Behr, who works as a circulation assistant for the Clovis News Journal and Portales News-Tribune, tells this tale:

Norm and a friend caught a couple of fish barely big enough to eat.

While his friend was cleaning and preparing the fish, one of those fish was plotting to escape.

Norm claims his friend had already gutted the fish, but when he went to cut off the head, fins and tail, the fish jumped off the table and managed to wiggle its way back to the water.

Once it got in the water it swam off — leaving its insides behind.

Norm said he and his friend spent a couple of hours that night searching for the fish, thinking it would float to the surface, but they never saw it again.
