Clovis man killed in crash near Farwell

A 65-year-old Clovis man is dead after a single vehicle crash Monday morning near Farwell.

Liberato G. Barela was westbound on U.S. 70/84 just before 3 a.m. (CDT) in Parmer County when his 2000 Chevrolet SUV veered off the road into the center median and struck a tree, according to Trooper Gabriel Medrano with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Merano said investigators are not sure what caused Barela to leave the roadway, noting conditions at the time were classified as wet and rainy.
