Press release: Witnesses apprehend robbery suspect

A local woman was robbed of a money bag containing an undisclosed amount

of money at a Clovis Allsup’s Convenience Store located at Grand and

Prince Street today on Friday, June 18, 2010 at approximately 10:00 am

when a suspect described as a black male was standing by an ice machine in

front of the store and asked the female victim for a cigarette as she was

walking up to the store and when she said she did not have one, the

suspect punched the victim in the face and took a money bag that the

female was holding. The robbery suspect then turned and ran to the south

and fled on foot from the parking lot area of the store. The woman yelled

for help and a group of male witnesses came to her aid and chased the

suspect in a vehicle and were able to apprehend the suspect after a short

vehicle and foot chase that ended in the area of 4th and Oak Streets.

Clovis Police arrived on-scene within a few minutes of the 911 call and

took custody of the suspect from the male witnesses that had apprehended

the man.
