Storm knocks out power for about 3,500 residents

About 3,500 Clovis customers went without power for roughly two hours after a storm-related outage.

Wes Reeves, a spokesman for Xcel Energy, said a transmission line failed at approximately 6:08 p.m. The failure knocked out power for 3,587 customers, and was fixed at 7:55 p.m.

“It’s a pretty large outage,” Reeves said.

Another outage affected customers in Farwell and Texico. Reeves said crews might not be able to restore power until midnight.
