Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Bert Ancell is president of New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and general manager of the Bell Ranch in San Miguel County.
He’s asking area residents join the cattle growers in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Thursday.
“There are people from 190 countries and one billion people taking this day to recognize the importance of all the magnificent wonders and natural resources that is loaned to us from the Earth,” he said.
“Earth Day is organized for people to understand the importance of the natural resources and what we can do to maintain and sustain the fragile ecosystems we live in.
“New Mexico’s farmers and ranchers celebrate Earth Day every day by working hard to enhance the soil, air and waters of this great state while making sure that quality food and fibers are in your and your neighbors’ homes. Taking care of the Earth’s natural resources is vital to the success of farmers and ranchers and it is the responsibility of every citizen to help reduce, reuse and recycle.
“Happy Earth Day!”
