Business feature: Businessman likens computers to patients

Yurem Diaz, owner of DiAZY (pronounced De-Ya-zee) Computer Services and More in Portales, got interested in computers in high school in the late 1990s.

“Everyone was excited,” Diaz said. “I always wanted to use a computer ... it was the first time anyone had actually had them in school and stuff.”

Diaz said when it comes to finding out what is wrong with a computer it is often a matter of listening to the customer.

“It’s like going to the doctor,” Diaz said, “because there are symptoms.”

Diaz works on computers, software, databases, Web sites, set-up networks, Web pages, custom software, files/picture backup and upgrades.

“It doesn’t take very long to fix (a computer),” Diaz said. “What is usually time consuming is scanning a hard drive.”

Diaz said when it comes to starting any business it’s about location, location, location ... and trusting yourself.

“Anyone who wants to start a business should go ahead and do it,” Diaz said. “They should get a little motivation and get into it.”
