SAN ANTONIO — Senior right-hander Kristen Cruickshank pitched five solid innings and was backed by a 12-hit attack as Eastern New Mexico University belted Cameron 8-4 Sunday to wrap up play in the St. Mary’s Classic.
The Zias (3-4) finished 2-3 in the three-day event. They visit Lubbock Christian for a 1 p.m. (MST) twin bill on Friday.
Cruickshank (3-2) allowed four hits and struck out three over five innings before freshman Amanda Lale finished up. Meantime, the Zias got two hits each from senior Alex Mayo Otis, Cruickshak, junior Michelle Anderson and senior Kimberly Crouse.
The Zias jumped on Cameron (2-3) for four first-inning runs, all with two outs, on an RBI single by Anderson, a run-scoring double by junior Taylor Howard, a run-scoirng single by sophomore Melissa Williams and an RBI double by Crouse.
They chased starter Ashton McBride (0-2) on RBI doubles by senior Rebecca Quionones and Cruickshank, making it 6-0.
Kruickshank blanked the Aggies until the fifth, giving up a run on a bases-loaded walk to shortstop Jessica Orr. The Zias added single runs in the fifth, on Crouse’s RBI single, and the sixth on Lale’s run-scoring hit, to make it 8-2.
