Day trip: Peanut factory offers guided tours

Location: The factory is located at 42593 U.S. 70, just northeast of Portales. It is 16.5 miles or a 24-minute drive from Cannon Air Force Base.

What activities can you enjoy at this location? Visitors take a 20-minute guided tour through the factory and see how peanut butter is created and packaged from start to finish. They can also browse through Sunland’s retail store, where they can purchase a variety of peanut butter flavors and numerous other peanut products.

What ages is this facility suited for? Any age is suitable for the facility.

What are admission prices? The guided tours are free. However, because the workers are so busy during the harvest season, Sunland does not give guided tours of the factory from September through November.

What are the hours of operation? 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

One special thing people can do or see here: During the guided tour, visitors are able to see peanut butter being put into jars, sealed, labeled and packaged for distribution in a matter of minutes.
