Press Release: Xcel names Hill CEO of Southwestern Public Service Co.

AMARILLO – Xcel Energy today named Riley Hill, chief operating officer of its Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS) subsidiary, to succeed David Eves as president and CEO of SPS.

Eves, who has served in his role since late 2006, has been named president and chief operating officer of Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo), an Xcel Energy company, headquartered in Denver. Both changes are effective Nov. 15.

“David has done an outstanding job strengthening the reliability of our system, improving service to our customers, developing plans for future resources, and assuming an active role in the community,” Fowke said.

“I am confident that Riley Hill will continue the great work that David Eves began,” added Fowke. “We are in a period of significant renewable energy and transmission growth in this area, and Riley has the experience and qualifications to tackle these challenges. He will build on our solid foundation of service in our Texas and New Mexico communities and be a great asset to this region.”

Hill was named chief operating officer of SPS in July 2009. Previously he served as regional vice president of customer and community relations and vice president of construction, operations and maintenance at PSCo, where his primary duties included construction, operation and maintenance of the electricity and natural gas distribution infrastructure and the natural gas transmission system in Colorado. He joined Xcel Energy in 2004 after serving 24 years at Westar Energy in Kansas.
