Day trip: Power center allows visitors to get close

Location: The center is located at 1701 Canyon Lake Drive in Lubbock. It is a 111.5 miles or a two-hour drive from Cannon Air Force Base.

What activities can you enjoy at this location? The main exhibit hall holds more than 100 rare and unique wooden and metal windmills. The covered patio is home to a 6,000-square-foot mural titled “The Legacy of the Windmill.”

What ages is this facility suited for? Anyone

What are admission prices? Admission is $5 per person or $10 for a family of four.

What are the hours of operation? The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Are there any special events coming up? The museum is taking applications for its WindSmith Academy Jan. 25-26, 2010 class. The school covers the basic tenets of wind power generation, according to the academy Web site.
