PORTALES — Although the final numbers will not be official until Sept. 4, preliminary figures show a record enrollment exceeding 4,550 for the 2009 fall semester at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. The 2008 fall headcount was 4,300. The previous record enrollment of 4,342 in the fall of 1972 had stood for 37 years.
