Runners brave weather

Rain did not dampen the participation at the Portales MainStreet Program's 9th Annual Fun Run Saturday sponsored by Burger King. More than 80 runners and walkers participated in the 10K run and 5K run/walk on South Main Street, the largest turn out in the history of the event.

“Runners like cool weather,” said MainStreet President Danny Woodward. “We actually have more participation when the weather cloudy or rainy.”

Funds raised from the Fun Run will go towards various MainStreet projects including the Facade Improvement Grant Program and the Yam Theater renovation.
