Location: 841 U.S. 70 West, Ruidoso Downs. The museum is located 175 miles, or a three-hour drive, from Cannon Air Force Base.

What activities can you enjoy at this location? You can take an entertaining and educational step into the past by walking through this museum’s constantly changing exhibits and four rotating galleries. Currently the gallery holds a collection called “Snapshots: Along the Rivers,” which reveals the pictorial history of the Ruidoso Valley.

What ages is this facility suited for? All ages can enjoy this museum.

What are admission prices? Adults $6, seniors and military $5, children ages 6-16 $2, and all children under the age of 6 are free. All current members of the museum have free admission. Group tours must be arranged in advance.

What are the hours of operation? The museum is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Are there any special events coming up? “Paintings By LeRoy Neiman” exhibit is set to be open Saturday through Sept. 13. The 18th annual Fall American Photography Exhibition is to run Sept. 5. through Dec. 13. “Ancient New Mexico” is set to run Nov. 14, 2009 through Oct. 3, 2010.

One special thing people can do or see here: The museum has a children’s interactive area that provides a hands-on experience of the late 19th century through the eyes of children from the era.
