Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 6 a.m. April 18 an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Janeway for a criminal damage report.
A man said his mailbox had been blown up.
The officer noted the back of the mailbox had been blown about 25 feet from the mailbox and there was a soda bottle inside the box.
A neighbor said he heard a loud explosion around 10 p.m. the previous night.
There were two other reports of mailboxes being blown up on nearby streets.

About 7 p.m. April 21 an officer responded to the 1100 block of Rio for a situation check on a vehicle parked in the roadway.
The officer encountered a 49-year-old male trying to start his car.
When the officer smelled the odor of alcohol coming from the man, he had him step out of the car and began field sobriety tests.
The man was unable to perform the tests and refused to finish a breath test later at the police station, saying he was “done.”
He was arrested for DWI, fifth offense.

About 1 p.m. April 21 an officer took a harassment report in the lobby of the police department.
A woman said she received a call at her work extension in a state office from a man wanting to know if she was the one in “the photo.”
The woman said she told him she didn’t know what he was talking about and he asked if she was the one from Craigslist and started asking about a massage.
The woman said she hung up but wanted to make a report because only clients are given individual extension numbers and she didn’t recognize the man’s name or voice.
The officer told her to call if she received any more calls from the man.

About 10 a.m. April 21 officers responded to the area of Fifth and Hinkle streets for a subject with a weapon.
A caller said a male in a wheelchair was brandishing a weapon.
The officers located a man in a wheelchair and asked him if he had a gun.
The man told them he did and turned over a .380 caliber gun from his pocket.
He told them he was under the belief that he could conceal a firearm while in his wheelchair because it, like a car, was viewed as an extension of his home.
The officer told him because he had the gun hidden on his person instead of it being in his wheelchair, that legal protection didn’t apply.
The officer noted intent to seek a warrant for unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon.
