College hosts art series, museum

Courtesy of Clovis Community College Clovis Community College’s Cultural Art Series is slated to present “The Best of Broadway” performance April 25.

Place: Clovis Community College. The school has Cultural Art Series performances and houses the Eula Mae Edward Memorial Museum and Gallery.

Location: Both are located on the Clovis Community College campus at 417 Schepps Blvd. (The campus is 10 1/2 miles or roughly 18 minutes from Cannon Air Force Base.)

What activities can you enjoy at this location? Patrons can enjoy many different performances hosted by the college’s Cultural Art Department. The museum exhibits many artifacts created by area natives. The art on display in the gallery is a wide variety of pieces from many local artists and pieces that also depict the area.

What ages is this facility suited for? Any age can enjoy the museum, gallery and performances.

What are admission prices? Prices of tickets for performances vary. There is a military discount offered for performance tickets. The admission to the museum and gallery is free.

What are the hours of operation? Performance times vary. The museum and gallery are open during regular campus hours, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Are there any special events coming up? At 7 p.m. April 25, the Cultural Arts Department is hosting a performance called “The Best of Broadway,” and includes the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber. One special thing people can do or see here: The museum houses Eula Mae Edward’s personal collection of artifacts donated to the college more than 15 years ago. She owned a general store and would trade items for American Indian artifacts. The collection includes arrowheads, knives and many other weapons. The museum also shares the story of the “Clovis Man,” the oldest human found to date.
