A 35-year-old Clovis man was convicted of 25 counts of possession of child pornography and faces more than 37 years imprisonment.

Willard Ballard was found guilty Wednesday by a Curry County jury, court records show.

Ballard will be sentenced after he completes a diagnostic evaluation.

In October 2007, Ballard took his laptop to a Clovis resident and told them he wanted to erase the external memory drive because it contained child pornography, according to a press release from District Attorney Matt Chandler.

The resident reported Ballard’s comments, and Clovis police launched an investigation.

A forensic examination of the computer and external drive uncovered multiple images of child pornography, and Ballard was arrested, the release said.
