Benefit concert planned for ENMU instructor

Several local bands are coming together in a charity concert for Eastern New Mexico University graduate and communications instructor Kevin Gardel, who was diagnosed with a rare cancer called primary myelofibrosis in September 2002.

All funds generated from the concert will be donated to the Gardels family to help pay hospital bills.

The concert features Thousand Year Reign, the Johnny Mulhair Band, Micah Short and 5th Note Heavy.

Gardels, 50, is married to Mary Gardels and has two children, Eastern student Jeremy, 30, and Savannah, 15, who is a member of the Portales High School Ram Band.
