Increasing need for firearms

On Jan. 30, two males kicked in the door of our home and were approximately 4 1/2 feet from my daughter. (“Clovis woman fires on intruders,” Feb. 6 CNJ)

I am extremely grateful the police arrived within three to four minutes. Unfortunately crime is escalating and we cannot expect them to be everywhere.

When seconds count between living or dying, the police are only minutes away. Had my daughter not fired upon the intruders when she did, the police may not have been able to take her statement. She not only would have been a victim but a dead victim.

John Adams said, “Arms in the hands of individual citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self-defense.”

For those opposed to firearms I encourage you to watch “Innocents Betrayed,” a documentary film warning about the dangers of gun control.

Warning: It is not for the fainthearted.

Recently the Brits marched hoping to reverse the laws on gun ownership. Six years ago they were forced to surrender their firearms to be destroyed by their government. They did. Now they want them back. Good luck!

Though difficult economic times are ahead, civil unrest is increasing. Government won’t bail us out.

As things begin to unravel and unemployment rises, desperation will set in. Gang bangers will be the least of our worries.

We as decent law abiding citizens need to use sound judgment, without taking the law into our own hands, and protect ourselves and our family by exercising our right to keep and bear arms. It is not a privilege as some would like to convey but a right.

Gun control is not about controlling guns and never has been. It’s about controlling people.
