Detention Center Administrator Lois Bean will give Curry County Commissioners a report on the jail’s ankle bracelet program at Wednesday’s meeting, according to an agenda released Tuesday.
The report comes after the escape last week of an 18-year-old waiting trial on robbery and battery charges.
Jail officials said Fermin Rodriguez removed his ankle bracelet and fled his home where he was required to be, focusing attention on controversy over which inmates should be placed on the facility’s ankle bracelet program.
Rodriguez is still at large.
Also on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting is a presentation from the Eastern Plains Council of Governments. Following the presentation, commissioners are expected to vote on an agreement with EPCOG for the 2008/2009 fiscal year.
Jan. 6, Portales city councilors were asked to consider not renewing the city’s membership in the Eastern Plains Council of Governments, amid accusations of embezzlement against a former employee of the organization. They will make their decision at this week’s meeting.
