A sampling of recent calls received by the Portales Police dispatchers, compiled from reports:
Dec. 28:
About 2:40 p.m., a woman reported she returned to her residence on South Avenue A to find her back door open.
Dec. 29:
About 10 a.m., a woman reported someone tried to break into her house on University while she was out of town.
About 1:25 p.m., police handled a call about identity theft from South Roosevelt Road N.
about 3:50 p.m., a caller reported that a customer’s vehicle had just been stolen on West Second Street.
About 11 p.m., an officer advised a state police vehicle was pursuing a smaller vehicle past Greyhound Stadium at speeds in excess of 124 miles per hour.
Dec. 30:
About 1:25 p.m., a women reported that she heard a voice calling, “Help, help” on N.M. 236 and Avenue K. The officer was unable to locate anyone crying for help.
About 4 p.m., a women reported that juveniles stole her purse at Second Street and Avenue I.
