Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
’Twas the day before Christmas
And there was no snow
But lots of cold wind
In New Mexico
With eastern New Mexico
Tucked in their beds
Visions of a day off work
Danced in their heads
The night time’s upon us
And I sure can’t be fun
For my evening plan’s
A Daily Show rerun
The pumpkin pie’s cooked
With a giant diameter
But will my thoughts fit
Anapestic pentameter?
I turn on the news
And I’m forced to witness
Them trying to hock books
With some fake “War on Christmas”
When I was a child
The day was simplistic
But I know it’s my fault
It’s now capitalistic
I shopped on Black Friday
And Googled for deals
And ate lots of fast-food
For shopping break meals
I’m so full of guilt
But I know I’ll beat it.
When Boxing Day comes
I’ll give to who needs it
Santa missed my place
But there’s nothing to fear
I’ll still say Merry Christmas
And have a great New Year
