Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Ronald McDonald House marking 25th anniversary

More than 7,500 families have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo since it opened in 1983, including several hundred from Clovis and Portales, according to House executive director Jan Reid.

Several local McDonald’s will help the Amarillo chapter of the global charity celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday by hosting birthday parties.

The community is invited to learn more about the charity, have a free cookie and register to win a bicycle, according to the release.

A few of the families who have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo will join in the celebration.

“Fourteen years ago I did not even know there was a Ronald McDonald House,” said Beth Lindsey of Portales. “Staying there was a blessing in every way.”
