Clovis' Reid captures U.S. Amateur qualifier

ALBUQUERQUE — Clovis’ Travis Reid shot a two-day score of 66-69 — 135 on Wednesday and Thursday to take first place in a U.S. Amateur qualifier at the University of New Mexico’s South course.

With the victory, Reid qualified for national competition Aug. 18-24 in Pinehurst, N.C.

He posted a four-stroke margin of victory over Andrew Widmar of El Paso.
