Meetings watch:
The Clovis city commission met Thursday at the Clovis-Carver Public Library’s North Annex.
• Commissioners approved to use $225,000 in capital outlay funding as a matching funds for the Community Development Block Grant designated for street improvements.
The city qualified for a grant $350,000 grant in April to repair residential roads in low-income areas.
• Commissioners approved to transfer a beer and wine only liquor license from the Red River Restaurant to the Rib Crib.
• The Commission approved to add three more commissioners to the Clovis Water Policy Advisory Committee.
The city charter only requires one city commissioner be part of the committee. Commissioners voted Thursday to amend the charter to add one commissioner from each district.
City Manager Joe Thomas said the committee needs representation from a commissioner from each to address the city’s water issues.
• Commissioners appointed Mayor Pro-Tem and City Commissioner Randy Crowder to an ad-hoc committee assigned to move a proposed wind farm project forward.
The project aims to erect three, 1.5 megawatt wind turbines on city property near the landfill. City officials said the wind farm could generate enough electricity to power city facilities with excess power to sell.
Thomas said the committee will investigate the feasibility and find funding for the a wind farm project and make recommendations to the commission.
