Veena Parboteeah will present a program on the island of Mauritius, an African nation, whose population is composed of people of diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Sandia room of the CUB.

ENMU hosting brass choir concert

The music department at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will present a brass choir concert at 7 p.m. on April 22 at Buchanan Hall inside the Music Building.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Donna George has accepted an offer to become ENMU’s Registrar. She will start approximately May 19.

Robin A. Wells, assistant professor of special education, served as a delegate from the New Mexico Council for Exceptional Children (NMCEC) state association to the Representative Assembly at the 2008 Council for Exceptional Children Convention & Expo held April 2-5 in Boston, Mass.

Wells also facilitated a session at the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Convention & Expo held in Boston, Mass. on April 3. The session was titled, “Theory to Practice: Is Preservice Preparation Missing Something?” Panel members from ENMU community were Wells, Rebecca S. Davis, assistant professor of special education, and Amberlynn Mauldin a graduate student in special education and a special educator at Portales Junior High School.

Bob Vartabedian, vice president for academic affairs, made a presentation on April 3 at the annual meeting of the Southern States Communication Association in Savannah, Ga. The presentation was entitled: “The Form and Function of the Presidential Library System.” April 11-13, Vartabedian will be accompanying 11 of ENMU’s international students to the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Ark.

Anthony B Schroeder, professor of Communication presented a paper “Improving the Quality of Corporate Decision Making” at the 2008 MBAA International Convention in Chicago, Ill..
