Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Women will be shown how to get it together. Learn how to look good and feel good. Talk it up and be “You and Improved” during the fourth annual Woman’s Day Out.
The fourth annual Woman’s Day Out will once again be all about woman on Saturday as it treats participants to a day filled with informative, educational and pampering classes. Sponsored by the Portales Woman’s Club, more than 15 workshops will be offered to women of all ages in topics ranging from Edible Gardening and Decorating For All Seasons to Cardiovascular Fitness/Nutrition and Feel Better About Your Skin Today.
“The Portales Woman’s Club holds this event because there is no other event like it in our area and we do need more events like this,” said Patrice Tompkins, recording secretary of the Portales Woman’s Club and co-chairperson of the event.
“Woman’s Day Out will be about a bunch of women getting together, giggling, laughing and learning things together. Everyone always has a good time when they come,” Tompkins said.
Pam Atherton, a motivational speaker and commentator from Tallgrass Rocks 98.3 in Clovis, will give a noontime presentation on achieving your dreams.
“I will talk about taking care of yourself and inspiring other women,” said Atherton, who has spoken at the event for the past three years. “Woman’s Day Out is a great event for women. We can really inspire each other. It is a great learning experience and a great opportunity to meet other women.”
At the event, women can chose from one of five classes which will be offered during four different sessions throughout the day. Among the other topics covered in workshops will be: Top five things to do to improve your lifestyle by DairyMax, closet organizing, organizing your taxes, scrapbooking with Creative Memories, comprehensive dentistry, skin care and color presentation and much more.
Vendors at the event will include the Baptist Children’s Home, United Way, Habitat for Humanity and Girl Scouts.
Proceeds from the event will benefit community services and historic projects in the community sponsored by the Portales Woman’s Club. Admission is $20. Tickets purchased before March 5 include lunch. Tickets purchased at the door do not include lunch.
