Three Smithsonian exhibits scheduled

ENMU Hosting Smithsonian Exhibit "Local Flavor Day" on March 9

PORTALES--The Smithsonian Exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food,

will host "Local Flavor Day" from 1:30-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 9 in Eastern New Mexico University’s Campus Union Building Ballroom.

The day will consist of several presentations about local ingredients with food samples.

Some of the presentations will be “Better Beef Means Buying Local Beef,” “Milk Economics and Health” and “Cultivating and Harvesting.”

Each event will be repeated at least one.

ENMU Hosting Smithsonian Exhibit “Key Ingredients: America by Food” during Spring Break

PORTALES- The Smithsonian Exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food, located in Eastern New Mexico University's Golden Library, will be open during spring break. The exhibit will open from Monday, March 24 until Friday March 28 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibit will be closed on Saturday, March 22, Sunday, March 23, and Saturday, March 29.

No guides will be available during this week. The Exhibit will continue to be available during regular hours beginning Monday, March 31.

ENMU Hosting Smithsonian Exhibit "Kitchen Creations, a Cooking School for Diabetics and their Families" on March 31

PORTALES- The Smithsonian Exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food will host "Kitchen Creations, a Cooking School for Diabetics and their Families" on March 31 from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, March 31. The session will be held in the Family and Consumer Sciences Building, Room 98. Classes will continue on April 7, 14 and 21.

The classes are free, but limited to the first 25. It is important to attend all four classes.

This is a diabetes prevention and control course that provides instruction as well as recipe preparation of food designed for persons with diabetes. Lifestyle changes will be encouraged that will help people to manage this chronic disease. Myths will be debunked.
