Clovis woman gets 19 years for selling drugs

Clovis, N.M. - Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matthew Chandler announced today that Tikila Williard, age 38, was sentenced for her conviction of selling crack cocaine to undercover police officers. This is the second time Willard has been convicted of selling crack cocaine in the past ten years, making this offense a first degree felony.

At the sentencing hearing the District Attorney’s Office advocated for a maximum sentence of nineteen (19) years in this case and the court granted the District Attorney’s Office request. Judge Teddy Hartley ordered Ms. Williard to serve the maximum nineteen (19) years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections for her conviction.

In August of 2007, Williard was found guilty by a jury of selling the cocaine to Curry County Sheriff’s Department and New Mexico State Police undercover narcotic agents. The conviction stems from a Region V Drug Task Force undercover operation that took place on January 4, 2006. At that time, undercover agents with the Curry County Sheriff’s Department and New Mexico State Police completed a transaction with Willard, who willingly sold crack cocaine in exchange for $100 cash. Williard was immediately arrested following the exchange of the money for the narcotics.

The Honorable Judge Teddy Hartley presided over the jury trial and Deputy District Attorney Christina Tatum and District Attorney Matthew Chandler prosecuted the case for the State.
