Gas prices were about 20 cents per gallon cheaper in Farwell than Clovis on Monday night.
The Allsup’s in Farwell was at $2.799 per gallon, compared $2.999 at most Clovis stations.

Mainline Bowl owner Phil Wood said he expects the bowling alley to open Monday after months of extensive reconstruction.
Home to five local leagues, the bowling alley has been closed since it was damaged in the March 23 tornado that ripped through Clovis.
Wood said the 24-lane alley will feature new hours — 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
He said the rebuilt restaurant, called the 13th Frame Cafe, is waiting on equipment and will open in about two weeks.
Work on a new cement parking lot is expected to be completed Friday.

The Clovis Board of Education will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1009 Main Street.

Suzanne Pleshette, the husky-voiced actress who played Emily Hartley on the “Bob Newhart Show” and was pecked to death in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic “The Birds,” died Saturday at her Los Angeles home.
She was 70.
Did you know: Pleshette was producers’ original choice for Catwoman on the 1966 “Batman” TV show, according to the Internet Movie Database. When negotiations broke down, Julie Newmar got the nod.

Frank Dalton shares his most memorable cold-weather experience:
“I remember a blizzard when I was about 5 (that) covered our ranch in northern New Mexico. When it broke I could walk over a five-wire barbed-wire fence. Dad spent days on horseback looking for cattle. Tractors were the only way to get around for nearly two weeks. Then Dad was gone every day for a month helping area ranchers gather and sort cattle that had drifted during the storm, some as many as 25 miles.”

“Those folks who have serious drinking problems have not been, nor will they be, slowed down by one-day-a-week no-sale mandates. … If there is an economic benefit for local businesses to having ‘drink’ sales on Sunday, to include the benefit of eliminating ‘bootleg’ sales, then I’ll support such a change.”
