First person: Hank Baskett

Clovis native Hank Baskett recently finished his second season with the Philadelphia Eagles:

On being back in Clovis: There’s no place like home. It’s always great to see friends and family. You can never get enough of friends and family.

On being named special teams player of the year by the Eagles: It did help. You can only have 11 starters (on offense). To be on special teams, you get to actually start the game with the kickoff. It adds value to your name. The more you can do, the more valuable you are.

What the Eagles told him on the exit interview: Things look good. The third year is a big year for a receiver, so be ready to fight for a starting position.

What happened to the Eagles: We just beat ourselves — just those little things.

Who he likes in the NFL playoffs: I’m not even planning to see it. It would be nice to see someone from our division win it, but once we’re out, it’s over.

If he wants to see the New England Patriots stay undefeated: It’s hard to stay undefeated, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it for my friends (and former Eagles receivers) Donte’ (Stallworth) and Jabar (Gaffney).
