Brown to hold parade
Brown Elementary School will present its annual Teddy Bear Parade at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the school. The parade will be followed by an assembly and classroom parties.
Family and friends of students are welcome to attend.
Portales among MainStreet awardees
Portales has been awarded a $50,000 grant as part of a $1.5 million in capital outlay funding for New Mexico MainStreet communities, according to a press release from the state Economic Development Department and the Department of Finance and Administration.
The award to the Portales MainStreet organization will be used to develop a comprehensive master plan for the city’s downtown area, according to the release.
Eleven projects in 11 New Mexico communities received grants in the 2007 cycle.
