Lelei leads Hounds at LSC XC meet

COMMERCE, Texas — Senior Nimrod Lelei ran a time of 25 minutes, 56.42 seconds over eight kilometers Saturday to place seventh in men’s competition in the Lone Star Conference cross country meet, hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce.

ENMU finished fifth out of nine teams with 124 points. The ENMU women, led by a 28th-place showing from in 25:09.05 over 6K, were ninth of 12 teams with 271 points.

Clovis High grad Matt Appelman finished directly behind Lelei in eighth place at 26:03.85, helping his East Central team take second place in men’s standings.

Abilene Christian continued its domination of the league meet, winning the men’s title for the 16th consecutive year and the women’s crown for the seventh season in a row. The Wildcats had the top four men’s finishers and two of the top three in the women’s race.
