Samplings of recent reports filed by Clovis-area law enforcement officers:

Around 8 p.m. Sept. 29 an officer stopped a vehicle in the area of 10th and Cameo streets for a broken taillight.

The driver ran from his vehicle. When the officer caught up to him, the driver had his hand over his mouth and was trying to swallow something.

The man gagged as he was being handcuffed and spit out a baggy of what appeared to be marijuana.

He was arrested.

About 2 a.m. Sept. 30 an officer responding to the area of 100 Golden St. for a reported public affray.

The officer came across a man slumped over the steering wheel of his running vehicle.

It took several attempts to wake the man, who admitted to drinking. He was given field sobriety tests and registered almost twice the legal limit on a breathalyzer test.

He was arrested.

About 2 a.m. Sept. 30 an officer responded to the hospital for a battery victim in the emergency room.

A man told the officer he was hit several times and knocked unconscious. He said a friend attacked his wife and he was trying to calm him down.

The officer took suspect information.

About 4 a.m. Sept. 30 an officer responded to a report of a large fight in the area of 9th and Davis streets.

While checking the area, the officer found baggies on the ground containing marijuana and cocaine.

The items were placed in evidence.

About 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 an officer responded to a store in the area of 21st and Prince streets for a report of a man harassing people for money.

The man was uncooperative and was arrested and given a trespass order to stay away from the store.

Around 10 p.m. Sept. 30 an officer was called to the 1200 block of Sheldon Street for a stolen vehicle.

A man told the officer his dirt bike was missing from the back of his truck.

The officer located the dirt bike in the alley behind the victim’s house.
