Difference: “We had nine kids (playing in) their first varsity game, so we had a lot of inexperience and it kinda showed,” said Clovis Christian Coach Jason Swann. “They are a great team and great teams take advantage of situations like that.”

Silver lining: Tyler Shipman’s second-half dash from 25 yards out prevented Gateway from scoring a shutout. “We ran a draw play and he broke loose,” Coach Swann said. “He got through some of the mess on the offensive line, saw a hole outside and once he gets outside, there’s few people can make a play on him.”
