Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Clovis residential customers of New Mexico American Water will receive a one-time credit of about $12.25 as part of the city water provider’s recently negotiated rate hike, according to a New Mexico Public Regulation Commission news release.
The refund will be appear on water bills no later than Oct. 1, the release reads.
The PRC ordered New Mexico American Water to refund a total of $241,316.
“After we allowed the water company to recover all of its cost of service under its Southwest Cheese Company contract, I thought it was important that all the remaining excess revenue be refunded to customers,” PRC Commissioner Jason Marks said.
The PRC approved a rate hike of up to 13 percent for Clovis customers in June depending on water usage.
