Local Roundup: Food vouchers to be distributed

Vouchers for the purchase of fruits and vegetables at the Clovis Farmers’ Market will be distributed on Friday to individuals enrolled in the commodity supplemental food program.

The $28 vouchers will be issued on first-come, first-serve basis at 9 a.m. at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center, 317 E. Second St., according to a press release from the New Mexico Farmers’ Market Association.

The Clovis Farmers’ Market is held at 4 p.m. Tuesdays and 8 a.m. Saturdays at the corner of Fourth and Pile streets.

New assistant director of United Way announced

Christina Martinez of Clovis has been named the assistant director of United Way of Eastern New Mexico, according to a United Way news release.

She succeeds Christine Caldwell, who had held the post since 2005. Caldwell moved to South Korea with her husband, who is serving in the U.S. Air Force and had been stationed at Cannon Air Force Base.

Martinez graduated in 1997 from Eastern New Mexico University, where she worked for more than 13 years. For the past three years, she worked at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern New Mexico.
