Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around midnight July 25 an officer was called to a home in the 300 block of West 11th Street for an injured suspect. He found a man accusing a woman of injuring him and the woman saying he did it himself by getting drunk and falling.

The officer discovered the man had fallen into and broken the front glass door, cutting his arm. The man was transported to the hospital for stitches.

About 1 a.m. July 26 an officer responded to a business parking lot on North Prince Street for a report of assault.

A woman and man told the officer they had been at a home on Adenmore Court when a man there had gotten angry and pointed a gun at them. They said they fled out of fear.

The officer talked with the man and searched his car but didn’t find a gun. The man said he had pointed a cell phone at the couple and didn’t own a gun.

Around 5:30 p.m. July 26 an officer was called to a store in the 3000 block of Prince Street for a report of shoplifting.

Employees said they observed a 20-year-old woman cut open a package with a razor blade and steal an item.

Items of baby clothing with tags on them were found in a satchel bag the woman was carrying. She was arrested for shoplifting. The items were estimated at a value around $130.

About 9 p.m. July 26 police responded to a domestic dispute in the area of Hull and Fitzhugh streets.

An officer encountered a man near a trailer identified as one of the parties in the dispute. He told the man to stop and talk with him but the man refused, saying he was an illegal resident and didn’t have to listen to the officer. The man then said he was going inside the trailer.

The officer warned him to stop and when the man continued to walk into the trailer, the officer grabbed him to restrain him. A struggle ensued, and with the assistance of another officer, the man was subdued and handcuffed.

He was arrested for resisting, evading, or obstructing a peace officer.

Around 1 a.m. July 27 police responded to a store at Seventh and Hull streets for a battery report. A woman told the officers she had gone to the store to seek safety from her boyfriend.

She said she had tried to leave in the car and he had punched her in the face through the window, then grabbed the steering wheel as she attempted to drive away. She said she dragged him about three feet and he fell.

The man had no visible injuries and said the woman was the aggressor.

Officers arrested the man for battery on a household member.

Around 11:30 p.m. July 27 an officer stopped a car with a headlight out in the area of Main and 11th streets. The driver told the officer the light had just burned out and he was on his way home to fix it.

The license plate was not registered to the car the man was driving and he did not have a driver’s license on file.

The officer confiscated the license plate and issued the man citations for driving without a license, a defective headlight, improper display of registration and no proof of insurance.
