Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Around midnight July 9 an officer responded to a call of larceny at a store in the 2000 block of West 21st Street.
A clerk told the officer a man grabbed him by the shirt and demanded money. He said the man pulled the panic alarm button from the string around his neck. The clerk opened the register and told the man to get the money himself. The suspect grabbed money from the drawer, got on a bicycle and left.
The suspect could not be located.

About 3 p.m. July 10 an officer responded to a report of assault at a home in the 1200 block of Pile Street.
A man said his neighbor came over and started yelling at him about money owed. He said he picked up a potted tree and started swinging it at the man and they began throwing punches. He said his neighbor then left and went to work. The officer noted he had a black eye.
The other man told the officer the same story.
The officer advised them to avoid each other and told them how to address the matter in municipal court.

Around 9 a.m. July 11 an officer responded to a home in the 400 block of Gidding Street for an assault report.
A woman told the officer a strange man walked up and started kissing her when she stopped at a convenience store at 21st Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. She said she pushed him away and he ran off.
The officer was unable to locate the man.

About 4:30 p.m. July 11 an officer responded to a business in the 200 block of Commerce Way for a report of harassment.
A woman said her former boyfriend had been driving through her employer’s parking lot and sitting in the parking area, watching her. She said he had been doing it several times a day. She told the officer she had a new boyfriend and was concerned for her safety.
The officer was unable to find the ex-boyfriend to talk with him.

Around 3 p.m. Thursday an officer was called to a store in the 2000 block of North Prince Street for a report of shoplifting.
The manager told the officer a woman came in, took a store bag and walked around the store putting items in it.
The woman then brought the bag to the register and told the manager she wanted to return the items. When the manager told her she could not return them without a receipt, she demanded a gift card or store credit. The manager told the woman she didn’t believe she had the items when she came in and went back to check the surveillance video. She said the woman ran out of the store, leaving the bag behind.
The officer found the bag contained about $50 worth of merchandise and the woman’s identification card.
