Jarod Kiser drove in five runs as Clovis beat Hobbs 11-5 in the second game of a summer league doubleheader Thursday at Bell Park.
Hobbs won the opener 19-5.
Kiser’s bases-loaded triple keyed a four-run fourth inning that put the Wildcats in front for good in the nightcap. He added a run-scoring single and a sacrifice fly.
Josh Burrell added a pair of insurance runs with a triple in the fifth.
Brandon Gilliard pitched the first five innings for the Wildcats (3-4). Emory Sierra followed with two innings of scoreless relief.
Kiser, Andrew Gilliard, Parker Wood and Sierra collected two hits each for Clovis.
Michael Sena went 2-for-3 with a bases-loaded triple and four RBI in the opener for the Wildcats.
Burrell and Jordan Jacobs also collected two hits.
Lady Cats split
Cassie Nelson and Kambry Jones each collected two hits in support of the strong pitching of Adrianna Aguilar and Elena Wimberly as Clovis beat Roswell 13-3 in the second game of a summer league doubleheader Thursday at the Lady Wildcats Softball Complex.
Roswell won the first game 13-9.
Aguilar pitched the first four innings of the nightcap for the Lady Cats (1-3), with Wimberly tossing the final two innings in relief.
Stefenne Ricketson added a double for Clovis.
In the opener, catcher Kayla Merritt hit a bases-loaded triple for the Lady Wildcats and Nicole Anaya added a double.
Clovis starter Lynne Logan allowed four earned runs in four innings.
